Irritable bowel syndrome associated with brain changes

LOS ANGELES — Irritable bowel syndrome has been a tough disorder to understand. Studies have failed to show any structural problems in the gut that would account for the symptoms of pain, bloating, diarrhea and constipation. However, the disorder is real, affecting as many as 15 per cent of Americans.

SA Hospital Guidelines for people with MCS

The South Australian Department of Health recently produced the Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Hospital Guidelines adapted from the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital MCS Guidelines.

Australian Court grants Lyme disease autopsy

A Sydney woman has been awarded a Supreme Court injunction to have her dead husband tested for a disease the Health Department says does not exist in Australia.

Mualla Akinci's husband, Karl McManus, died last Wednesday - three years after he was bitten by a tick she says carried Lyme disease, a bacterial infection which, if left untreated, can cause profound neurological damage.

Article in New York Times: Delay in study on CFS prompts outcry

From the New York Times website:

Researchers at the National Institutes of Health and the Food and Drug Administration, citing a need to re-evaluate their data, have delayed publication of a new study believed to provide evidence of a link between chronic fatigue syndrome and a little-known retrovirus.
