Have you been subject to a MSBP and/or a Conversion Disorder diagnosis?
Geoffrey Hallman is a PhD Candidate with Southern Cross University in Lismore, NSW. He is currently undertaking research in ME/CFS for his PhD entitled ‘Persons with ME/CFS: An Examination of Health Issues and Relationships with Social Institutions in Australia ’.
Mr. Hallman is currently seeking ME/CFS sufferers to participate in his research, particularly those who fit the following criteria:
1. A person now over 18 who was previously a child subject to an MSBP/Conversion Disorder diagnosis when they had been diagnosed (and remains diagnosed) with ME/CFS; and
2. A parent with ME/CFS who had or has a child (age irrelevant, but under 18 at the time) diagnosed as described in 1.
The Wikipedia definition of a conversion disorder is: "... a condition where patients present with neurological symptoms such as numbness, paralysis, or fits, but where positive physical signs of hysteria can be found. It is thought that these problems arise in response to difficulties in the patient's life, and conversion is considered a psychiatric disorder in the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-10) and Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 4th edition (DSM-IV). Formerly known as 'hysteria' ..."
