Link Up Programme
The 'Link Up' programme brings small groups of people together through a facilitated telephone or Skype conference call. These discussion groups allow members to connect with other people with ME/CFS without leaving home.
'Link Ups' are held regularly and are facilitated by officers from ME/CFS Australia (Victoria). Topics for Link Ups in the past have included:
- Young people (25 years and under)
- Males
- Females
- Mixed group
- Very severe ME/CFS (housebound)
- Fibromyalgia
- Multiple chemical sensitivities
- People living alone
- Parents, carers or partners
- Creative group
- Positive group
In addition to our telephone 'Link Ups', we are eager to conduct 'Link Ups' over Skype with members who have a computer with broadband internet; microphone and speakers; and the Skype program, available for free download at www.skype.com. If you are interested in participating in a Skype 'Link Up', please contact the office on (03) 9791 3100.
We are happy for suggestions of new groups and topics for Link Ups. If you are interested in participating in a Link Up session, please contact the office on (03) 9791 3100 or fill in and return a Link Up application form. Link Up participants must be members of ME/CFS Australia (Victoria); membership forms are available here.
In November 2007 the Society held a 'Link Up' with a number of medical practitioners, including Dr. Don Lewis and Dr. Nicole Phillips, who discussed the diagnosis, management and treatment of ME/CFS. Copies of this Link Up, branded 'Doc Talk', are available to borrow from the library or purchase for $10.
