On Friday the 10th of October ME/CFS Australia (Victoria) participated in St. Arnaud Secondary College's Health Expo. The Expo brought together eleven agencies, including community health services, community agencies, youth services and police. ME/CFS Australia (Victoria) attended as part of the 'ME/CFS: On The Move' project.
Nicci and Susie from ME/CFS Australia (Victoria) travelled to St. Arnaud, located roughly half way along the main route connecting Ballarat and Mildura, to provide information to students, school staff and community service providers on ME/CFS and the Society in the form of display materials, brochures, information kits and a multimedia presentation.
Over 150 students received information kits on ME/CFS and many took part in a survey to ascertain prior awareness and knowledge of ME/CFS. The Expo also allowed Nicci and Susie to network with local service providers and distribute information to health service providers.
The Health Expo was designed to raise awareness of various health and welfare issues and the services in place to deal with these. The Health Expo was supported by the School Focused Youth Service of the Northern Grampians Shire and the Salvation Army.
ME/CFS Australia (Victoria)'s 'On The Move' project is funded through a grant from the Andrews Foundation.
